Talking New Game Addition, Power Orbs

Ok, you know how skill tomes give you skills in hard mode, runes and insignias give your armor the ability to give you extra health and energy. Well what about something more...permanant?

Power Orbs:
Basically it's an orb of a certain catagory, you get it when you complete certain very very very difficult actions (transfer a total of 500k balth faction or 500k alliance faction). Here's a small list I made up of Power Orbs and the chance for you to get it when you complete a very very hard task (not really set yet)

Mana Orb- increases your maximum energy by 5 (10%) (cost: 100mil)
Fast Recovery Orb- Increases your Health pips while not in battle by 1 (5%) (cost: 500mil)
Mana Recovery Orb- Increases your mana regeneration by 5% (4%) (cost: 750mil)
Health Orb- increases your maximum health by 10(10%) (cost: 100mil)
Dark Power Orb- increases your health and mana by 10% (1%) (cost: 2.5bil) (extremely rare)
Caster's orb- increases the speed at which you recharge spells by 1% (10%) (cost: 100mil)
Fighter's Orb- increases the damage you deal with attacks by 1% (10%) (cost: 100mil)
Surprise Orb- increases your health, your mana (your energy), your armor, your damage, or your armor penetration by 1 (%) (20%) (cost: 75mil)
Dark Light Orb- gives you 2k experience (30%) (cost: 50mil) (most common)

Note that all of these prices should probably be increased by about 25mil due to the current standard of the gw price listings. Plz tell me what you think.

Guild Wars' philosophy is that it revolves around player skill, not the amount of time spent obtaining upgrades. Why do you think the maximum level cap is only 20? People complain about minor skill "imbalances", where some skills may be slightly stronger or more useful than another. Imagine the huge uproar it would cause to allow players to get 7,500 health and 692 energy with 20 pips of regeneration. Guild Wars would certainly lose a large portion of its current playerbase, and most likely get put out of business. Sorry, but this idea isn't going anywhere.

1. That's why this can only be given/granted with a very difficult task or accomplishment and that's why there are very very low chances of you recieving anything but an orb that increases your mana by 1 or only gives you 2k exp. I'm not saying taht you have to get 500k faction to get this I'm saying I haven't thought of something serious enough to give an orb to a player yet.
2. I hit my head on the cieling a few minutes before I made this xD

What are you using as unit to cost ? Gold ? Faction ? You must be insane with that cost.

So people that PvP all day get uber powerful??
It not enough for PvP that they have access to all skills and runes/upgrades

I couldn't see it hurting for PvE as . . well we fight AI so it wont rage quit
But PvP when somone has lots of these they would be a 1-man killing force

Are these ment for PvP or PvE? You said you get them for trading Balth but why would a PvP'er want an orb that gives 2k XP?

It rewards those who have nothing better to do than play Guild Wars all day. It means those of us who have work and other things to tend to end up having sucky accounts by comparison (or at the least, you wouldn't be on par fighting against those players who have all the upgrades). I'd be willing to bet 70% of guild wars players are this kind of player, which means 70% of the guild wars community would rapidly lose interest in keeping up.

Doesn't matter how rare it is or how much it costs.. there's someone who can afford it in large quantities who would own you in PvP because he has 2000+ life, not because he's actually more skilled than you.

I think that was Diablo 2's greatest feature and greatest flaw at the same time. There were things that were incredibly rare and incredibly valuable that would make you an invincible player if you could get your hands on it. And I don't know if you've ever played Diablo 2, but to fight another player was a joke. There was no sense of balance whatsoever, so it meant nothing if you were killed.

I miss the uber gear in Guild Wars, but I'd also hate to see Guild Wars turn into a 'whose got the more l337 gear war.' It would ruin the game. There's enough gear and skills out there to make it difficult to obtain it all as it is.

Played it, beat it, killed about 40 people with those same items. There is no such thing as an invincible player but point taken. The only real way to make this work is to make another title isn't it? (oh and for the forty third time in a row the reason I made up a difficult task is because I haven't thought of one hard enough to actually give a player his orb. If you can think of a task that would be incredibly hard but would justify giving the character a random orb [yes random I don't think it wise to give anyone the choice of getting a health or mana orb unless I have some duds like the exp one in their]).

It's energy not mana, I know where you get your idea from.

There's no way to retroactively reward people for transferring though...plus the idea is pretty bad to begin with...

If you want gear based play, go to WoW. GW is skill based, and that's why I play it.
